Automotive Detailing is the thorough cleaning, restoration, and finishing of an automobile, both inside and out, to rejuvenate and restore it to as close as achievable, factory condition, and when possible to “showroom condition“. A professional detailing service like Royal Car Care Miami will bring your vehicle back to the highest level of perfection including smelling fresh and clean and the paint shiny, making it easier to maintain. Automotive detailing can also involve protecting that shine long-term, with waxes, sealants, and semi-permanent and permanent interior and exterior coatings.

There are several types of car washes. In the traditional sense, a car wash is a drive-through coin operated automated facility that uses a mechanized system of water, air, brushes, textile strips, and products to wash the bulk of the dirt off the exterior of the vehicle.
Automated car washes usually work on volume with hundreds of vehicles passing through a machine all day. Some provide a limited amount of manual washing, preliminary rinsing, or additional scrubbing of the tires and lower panels with a long-handled mop or brush, but the effort is usually quick and superficial. No special care or attention is taken to hard-to-get-to areas of your car, nor is there any concentration on areas where there may be dirt build-up, squashed bugs, or bird-droppings. Automated car washes are designed to get customers in and out with a clean car, as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Many car washes offer free do-it-yourself low-suction vacuums for getting the “biggest” of the dirt off the seats and floorboards. Some but not all car washes offer an interior cleaning by hand but it is usually an insignificant dusting and wipe-down of the dashboard and console, and perhaps a quick vacuuming of the carpets and seats.
Not all car washes are drive-through. Some will hand wash your vehicle while you wait, but because they work on a first-come-first-serve basis, they too are in the business to get customers in and out quickly with a relatively clean vehicle. There is no customization or “detailed” cleaning of your interior or exterior.
Be a bit wary of manual car washes for charity or fundraising. Although always for a good cause, young people and amateurs often use, unknowingly, soaps, towels, and brushes that can be dangerous to the paint on your vehicle.
Washing your vehicle is just the first of many steps in detailing. A detailer will always wash your vehicle by hand. That way they can pay close attention to the surface paint as they rinse, clean, and rinse again. Rather than motoring cars through on an assembly line, a detailer like RCC only handles a handful of customers per day and always by appointment. Professional detailers have an eye for every flaw on the surface of your vehicle and not only clean your car, but can correct dull or damaged spots with special products and cleaning techniques. They also recognize potential problems like oncoming oxidation and fine scratches that dull the paint, and believe that immediate correction of those problems are the only way to protect the long-term health of your vehicle, increasing its resell value and protecting your automotive investment.
Detailers spend as much time cleaning the interior as the exterior. They clean down in the crevices and between and underneath seats; scrub your ashtray, door pockets, cup holders, and armrests down in the seams; and they offer powerful steam vacuums for the carpet, mats, and upholstery to remove stains and spills. Most offer odor removal, control, and any number of products to clean and protect your glass, leather, vinyl, metals, wood, plastics, and paint.

There is an old adage: “You get what you pay for!” RCC sometimes loses first-time customers to a “cheaper” detailer, but just as often, they make their way back to RCC because they are dissatisfied with the other guy’s job.
Most of RCC’s customers have been our customers for years! We do not cut corners and use only the finest products.

This is a common question asked by many people. Machine buffing is the only way to remove surface scratches and bring your paint to a high polished shine!
However, many detailers don’t recommend buffing because they simply do not know how to do it properly. An inexperienced detailer can do a lot of damage to your vehicle using the wrong products and misusing a buffer, from burning the paint to leaving behind more scratches, swirl marks, and holograms than they remove!
Only a trained professional should machine buff your paint. If your vehicle has been damaged by another shop, let us look at it. We are certain to get her looking great again!

You will never get any fluff from an RCC technician. It may sound like a lot and it is, but rest assured that every step is necessary to get your vehicle to like-new condition, and believe us when we say, the work we do is often magical for our clients. Most customers cannot believe their older classic or even a car a couple of years old could look that good again!

A clay bar is just that — a bar of clay. We call it detailer’s clay and when used correctly, a clay bar process is crucial to cleaning the exterior surface of your car. Detailer’s clay removes surface dirt, grime, and contaminants to make your paint smooth as glass. A carwash, wash mitt or car brush will not remove it and sometimes, makes it worse. Clay bar should always be used prior to machine buffing because without the clay bar, scratches, swirls, and overall damage to your paint is very likely!

Prices vary from many reasons. “Time is money“, and the time we take to restore the shine and clean on your vehicle is similar in terms of skill and refinement, to the time it takes an artist to paint a family portrait.
Some detailers are more thorough than other detailers are. Some are more skilled, work more efficiently, use better techniques, better products, and have better equipment. Some detailers will include more steps in a detail than others will such as engine cleaning, interior dressing, more polishing steps, or wet sanding. More steps mean more time, which means more money. Some clients are very particular and demand absolute perfection, while others just want a basic detail. Some clients prefer a detailer focus on their interior while other clients prefer their exterior have a perfect shine. The price depends on the vehicle itself.
• How old is the vehicle? An older classic will take longer and offer more of a challenge to detail than a newer model vehicle.
• What color is the vehicle? Darker colors always show more paint imperfections than lighter colors. Darker vehicles require more polishing steps to look their best.
• How big is the vehicle? It takes a lot less time to detail a small two-door Fiat than 4-door SUV or Hummer.
• What color is the interior? Light interiors show more stains and dirt than dark interiors. A light interior will be harder to detail and require more time and effort to restore.

A new vehicle rarely leaves the showroom flawless, and although the service department will give it a quick wash and vacuum before turning it over to the new owner, they rarely provide a complete detail or offer a suitable protective coating alternative. A new car goes through many travails before landing at the dealership including sometimes sitting for months in storage at a railway yard where contaminants build up on the surface. They also suffer from flying road debris while being hauled on a semi-truck trailer, and because a machine at the manufacturing plant often paints vehicles, it is often uneven; has swirl marks, holograms, and even fine scratches, before it ever leaves the plant. It isn’t a pretty start or your vehicle!.
RCC actually offers a New Car Detail package upon delivery of your new vehicle. We can also offer a high-quality semi-permanent or permanent protective coating that is far superior to anything the dealership will offer.

Paint correction is a detailing process focused on removing imperfections like swirl marks, scratches, buffer marks, holograms, micro marring, etc. from the surface of the vehicle, as well as re-leveling the paintwork by 1 or 2 microns, to the highest possible standards of perfection without compromising the thickness of the paint.

Compound is a powerful product, but unfortunately, inexperienced detailers often misuse it. Compounding requires proper training, skill, and knowledge of paint and the compounding products to be efficient. If used incorrectly, compounding can do more harm than good.
RCC uses compounds to achieve dramatic, swirl free, scratch free results. It should never be used as a one-step buffing product.
Be very careful about who you let compound your vehicle. Compounds are surface levelers. It decreases the thickness of your clear coat every time it's used, and if used too often, you can burn straight through your clear coat down to the paint itself.
Swirls, holograms, scratches, and burned paint are all results from the misuse of compounds. A mistake can lead to only one option of recovery: repainting your vehicle — so be careful!

If you are an experienced detailer, have the proper equipment, tools, facility, time, and know how to use all of those things like compounds, detailer’s clay, wet-sanding, electric buffers and polishers … sure! Go for it! However, it is more likely you are a potential RCC employee than a customer!

Absolutely not! Resist all sales pitches to buy coating applications from a car dealership! The coatings dealerships offer their customers are no better than a car care product you purchase at the local auto parts store. In addition, dealerships rarely have a professional, fulltime, experienced detailer on staff and the average service department representative is not qualified to apply a professional-grade product like the ones RCC offers.
RCC hears stories all the time from customers who paid upwards of $400 to have stuff put on their car with claims it protects your paint, interior, etc. Some coatings do offer protection, but they are not better than those we offer, which have been researched, tested in the field, and have proven results. Save yourself the money!

Don’t try it yourself. RCC sees the damage resulting from people trying to remove tree sap, water marks or acidic overspray from the surface of their own car. Sometimes the damage is irreparable. There dozens of products overt the counter that claim to remove this issues safely, but it takes more than one step to remove it. Just bring it in to RCC and let us save you the time and effort!

This is something we get quite a bit. Once your vehicle has been painted, chances are, you don't need it buffed (assuming the job was well done!) for about the first year, but you probably do need a simple hand wax or sealant application.
After the first year, you can probably use a good buffing. The rule of thumb is wait at least 3 months to buff fresh paint. We have seen cases where a freshly painted vehicle is full of swirl marks from wet sanding and buffing the paint. Fresh paint should not have swirls when returned to the customer, but it happens.

We have a rule of thumb: If the scratch Is deep enough that you can stick your finger nail well into the scratch, it probably can't be buffed out. That doesn't mean it can't look a lot better, though. We have removed some deep scratches and honestly, we never really know until we start working on it just how perfect or imperfect the finished repair will be. In some cases, especially if the scratch is down to the metal and cuts through not just the clear coat, but also the original paint, it isn't coming out.

The level of detailing to remove mold and mildew smells depends on the severity of the mold and mildew. Some mild mildew odors require steam cleaning your interior, but in the vast number of cases, RCC has to use odor elimination machines and change out your air conditioning filter to remove the source of the bacteria causing the odor.
Mold can also damage your exterior paint surface. You will need a paint correction to remove it.

The smell of smoke is one of the hardest odors to remove because it depends on how deeply into your carpet and upholstery fibers the smoke has penetrated. We may or may not be able to get rid of all of it.
Some places claim to "odor bomb" the smell out of the vehicle, but from our experience, that is just a temporary fix. Nicotine needs to be removed and it is very hard to do; however, we guarantee your vehicle will smell a great deal better after we have a go at it!
Most of the time, we can remove 90% of the smell on the surface of your interior. We use odor and ozone machines to attack real hard cases.

Once we quote you a price, it will not change unless you were notified beforehand that the price you are quoted may be affected by something else; and even then, we will not surprise you upon pick-up. We will contact you and let you know what those extra charges are.
Some detail shops tend to quote by sight without offering flat rates for specific tasks. We disagree with this method.
Sometimes we discover issues while working on the vehicle. If that takes 15 minutes or 2 minutes, you are paying for it in our flat or packaged price. We prefer and our customers seem to prefer set rates for specific tasks.
